I guess I’ll just enjoy the game for the time being and not worry about how the game will ‘treat me’ once I reach the endgame. With streamers spending tens of thousands of dollars and not even receiving a single 5-star Legendary gem, it’s just outrageous, and I’m fully aware I’m not capable of spending that much.
There is that gnawing feeling that at one point, the game will grab me at knife-point and force me to spend my life’s savings to bump up my Combat Rating (CR), which is some arbitrary number that dictates if I can play with certain people or not. While Diablo Immortal has much to be praised for, I have this sinking feeling as I progress through the game. To be clear, I haven’t even spent a single cent on Diablo Immortal. Dungeons and Challenge Trials offer a satisfying time-sink, especially with a Warband. Nothing beats seeing Legendary tier equipment dropping after slaying a challenging foe. What makes demon-slaying even better is the loot drops. It’s cathartic and it keeps me hooked to the game. The satisfaction you get from killing rouges and demons is just pure bliss. The same cannot be said for Immortal, however, as I found myself yearning to pull out my phone launch Diablo Immortal whenever I had some spare time. Plus, cross-play allowed me to join my clan on adventures while I’m away from the PC, which made me wish that other games could emulate such flexibility.ĭiablo Immortal is admittedly my first Diablo, although I did dip my toes into Diablo III, which I did not enjoy.

Speaking of which, I’ve been playing Diablo Immortal on both the iPhone 13 Pro and my gaming computer, both of which runs the game perfectly fine.
It’s also a good thing Diablo Immortal offers cross-progression. It does feel jarring to return and log into after almost half a decade following Destiny 2’s departure from Blizzard’s dedicated launcher. Admittedly, I lambasted the game for its flaws, but since it was only recently launched in Southeast Asia, I spent the better half of last week exploring its expansive world. However, beneath the huge, steaming pile of microtransaction-related issues plaguing Diablo Immortal, it is actually an enjoyable gem of a game.
